A community radio network for the Palouse — no cell service, no fees, built by locals.
We currently serve the Palouse, the Clearwater region of north-central Idaho, and northeast Oregon — centered around Pullman, Moscow, Lewiston, and the surrounding communities.
The Idaho counties east of Latah/Nez Perce fall within the broader Clearwater region. Coverage in those areas is growing — coordination with other regional groups is ongoing.
Palouse Mesh runs on MeshCore — open-source firmware for small LoRa radios that pass messages between nodes like a radio relay chain. No cell towers, no internet connection, no monthly bill.
Nodes are battery or solar powered and can cover substantial distances line-of-sight from a hilltop. The Palouse's rolling terrain is genuinely good for this — a repeater on a ridge covers a lot of open farmland. To get involved, reach out via the Groups.io mailing list, the Facebook group, or on the mesh itself.
Enter these in MeshCore under Radio Settings. All three must match exactly across the network.
Coding Rate defaults to CR5 — no need to change it. More in the FAQ →
